As President of the Chinese Business Chamber (CBC), David Koon Kam King led a delegation of 10 CBC members on a business trip to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Kuching) from 29 June to 11 July. During the trip, CBC met three business chambers regrouping about 100,000+ members.
In Kuala Lumpur, we had the privilege of meeting various businesses engaged in the export of timber, plant-based noodles, plastic products, construction materials, tissue/wipes, palm oil and more. Additionally, we established connections with one of the largest Chinese business chambers in Malaysia, the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) with members across multiple sectors. It was also exciting to learn that a group of members and businessmen from this chamber is planning an upcoming trip to Madagascar. We also had the opportunity to connect with the Youth Committee of ACCCIM, a vibrant community that brings together young individuals (under 35) for the purposes of networking, entrepreneurship, and fostering friendships.
Furthermore, we attended the Food and Drinks Malaysia 2023 exposition, where we had the opportunity to explore the latest trends and innovations in the sector. It was during this event that we also had the pleasure of meeting a Venture Capital firm specializing in the food industry.
We also engaged in a productive conversation with the Ambassador of Mauritius in Malaysia, Mr. Jugdish Goburdhun, delving into topics such as visa requirements and exploring business ideas to enhance trade between Malaysia and Mauritius.
We were honoured to attend the 133rd anniversary of the Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kuching, and experienced their kind and generous hospitality. We had the pleasure of connecting with various other esteemed business chambers, from other different states of Malaysia, Adelaide (Australia), Indonesia, Singapore, Myanmar, Brunei, and Timor-Leste. Furthermore, we were honored to have the opportunity to meet with both the Premier of Sarawak and their Minister of Tourism.
